'Old High Street' Early Victorian street scene
From Bessie Dayne's postcard album March 1907
This photo is of , I think, an early Victorian street scene. Handwritten in ink it says 'Old High Street' and has the initials 'JWM'
Absolutley no idea where this is. Clues? on the left are a set of grand gateposts and railings although they could be memorials. A row of shops with blinds. men in tophats. Horse drawn carriages. In the forfront a woman in a full Victorian skirt.
On the right a horse drawn carriage and what looks like a mid Victorian road works going on.
I really like this photo postcard.
The postcard is adressed to Miss Baxter of 37 Albany Road, Sheffield. Postmark Sheffield Feb 4th 1908.
